Charles Michener, Bee Expert, Dies

Charles Michener, one of the foremost experts in the world on bees and other social insects, died on November 1, 2015, at the age of 97.

Michener began work at KU in 1948 and retired in 1989, but never discontinued his research. Over his career he was published 514 times over almost 80 years. His book, The Bees of the World, is considered the definitive source on the subject.
